The Howland Farm is a 200-acre peaceful refuge located in the rolling hills of Upstate New York. A working family farm for more than 150 years, it has been updated and transitioned to a gathering place for events of all kinds. THE HISTORIC BARN
The authentic and historic charm of the barn makes it the perfect setting for a memorable event. When you open up the large barn doors, the indoor and outdoor spaces become one. Handicap accessible bathrooms, a large dance floor, custom bar, and quick access to the farmhouse kitchens takes the stress and challenges out of throwing your next celebration.
THE CEREMONY SITES
Surrounded by sweeping views of distant hills, the farm offers multiple ceremony sites as well as many stunning and unique photo opportunities. There is a certified butterfly garden, stream, and mature trees sprinkled throughout the estate. There are many locations to add a large party tent to accommodate parties of any size.
THE FARM HOUSE
Our downstairs suite has a spacious bedroom with a private bath. There are three upstairs bedrooms for your special guests. You and your caterers are going to love our large farm kitchen. A guest favorite is the three covered porches that overlook the 200-acre farm. It will be hard to resist not sipping your morning coffee while enjoying one of our many porch rocking chairs.

The farmhouse has hosted overnight travelers from 40 countries and nearly all of the states. The recently renovated event barn is an ideal setting for events of all sizes. Weddings, family reunions, graduation parties, and other activities will find the adaptable setting a comfortable, welcoming venue for guests of all ages and interests.

How much do you charge?
Events at Howland Farm include the Event Barn and three nights in the Guest House. Prices range from $3,900-4,500 depending on the event size. Please schedule a tour and/or request the price list.
What do we do if it rains?
All outdoor events will need an inclement weather plan. The guest house interior is not designed to accommodate groups larger than 20. The event barn can easily seat 70. Options include: rearrange the indoor space in the event barn; rent a larger tent capable of accommodating all activities in combination with the event barn. Another option is to move to the long barn where artificial turf carpets a 3500 sq. ft. indoor play area..
What is the maximum capacity of the Guest House?
The house sleeps 9 comfortably. There are air mattresses available if you wish to expand to a couple more. Day guests shall not exceed 20 in the house.
Do you have a shuttle bus?
We do not have shuttle buses, but several customers have rented golf carts from a local vendor who will deliver them. Golf carts are a great way to get around the farm and transport guests who need a little extra help. There are also area vendors available to assist with transportation to area hotels.
What is the alcohol policy?
You are responsible for meeting all NYS legal requirements for serving alcohol. It is typically easier to ask your caterer to be responsible for this.
What are the restrictions about noise and quiet hours?
The farm is a quiet and peaceful environment. Quiet hours are between 11 pm and 8 am. (Please feel comfortable discussing other needs with our event coordinator.)
What about open fires?
We have a 30-inch fire pit and yard chairs. They can be set up at several locations around the yard. Of course, the fire must be monitored and extinguished safely, but there are no special requirements. Our on-site property manager will assist with set up and provide fire starter materials and a few logs for your convenience.
What size tent will I need?
This will be dependent on the size of your event. The event barn easily seats 70 guests. Our event coordinator or the tent rental companies (on our vendor list) can help you identify the best tent size depending on the needs or your celebration.
Do you have a vendor list?
We do have a list of vendors who have worked at Howland Farm previously. While you are not obligated to use any of these vendors, the list and recommendations from our event coordinator may help you with your planning needs.
Do you have free WiFi?
Yes. Free WiFi is available in the Guest House for house guests only.
Are there any animals on the property?
There are currently no domestic animals on the property.
